What people usually ask

Is Informed free?
Yes. Browsing bills, members, votes, and hearings is free and requires no account. A free account lets you follow legislation and receive email updates. Paid plans (Plus, Pro, Max) add expanded AI assistant usage.
Where does the data come from?
Directly from api.congress.gov, the official U.S. Congressional data service operated by the Library of Congress and the Government Publishing Office. We also ingest bulk XML feeds from GovInfo. We don't modify the underlying data — only the presentation.
How current is the data?
Most records update within a few hours of publication on Congress.gov. Some document types (like the Congressional Record) are published on the next business day.
Do you have a political slant?
No. We don't add commentary, ratings, or editorial framing. The feed shows actions as they occur; the AI assistant answers factually from document text and cites the passage it's drawing from.
Can I use this data in research or reporting?
Yes, within the terms of the underlying Congress.gov and GovInfo data usage policies. If you need bulk access, contact us.
