IMF Afghan Recognition Assurance Act
This bill requires the Department of the Treasury to oppose any International Monetary Fund recognition of Afghanistan if the Taliban controls Afghanistan's government.
The President may temporarily waive this requirement if (1) the Taliban-controlled government is upholding the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan, (2) the Taliban-controlled government is not providing support for international acts of terrorism or permitting terrorist groups to operate from Afghanistan, and (3) such a waiver supports U.S. national interests.
