Coast Guard Academy Improvement Act
This bill addresses matters related to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, including to (1)establish a commission to assess the level of cultural competence within the academy; (2)mandate a recruitment and retention plan for the academy; (3)establish a minority outreach team program to recruit minority students to the academy; (4)establish a rotational research, development, and training program in cybersecurity for academy graduates and faculty; (5)require the Coast Guard to select half of each academy class from a specific pool; and (6)authorize the College Student Pre-Commissioning Initiative program for certain undergraduate students to enlist and receive a guaranteed commission as an officer in the Coast Guard.
