Department of Labor Accountability Act of 2017

This bill authorizes the Department of Labor to suspend, demote, or remove certain employees for poor performance or misconduct.

It establishes requirements and procedures with respect to such adverse personnel actions, including the following:

  • appeal rights,
  • grievances arising from an adverse personnel action,
  • recoupment of relocation expenses, and
  • recoupment of bonuses and awards.

Referred to the Committee on Education and the Workforce, and in addition to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
