This bill terminates the designation of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan as a major non-NATO ally.
The President may not issue a separate designation of Pakistan as a major non-NATO ally until the President certifies that Pakistan:
- is continuing to conduct military operations that are contributing to significantly disrupting the safe haven and freedom of movement of the Haqqani Network,
- has taken steps to demonstrate its commitment in preventing the Haqqani Network from using any Pakistani territory as a safe haven,
- is actively coordinating with Afghanistan to restrict the movement of militants along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, and
- has shown progress in the arrest and prosecution of Haqqani Network senior leaders and mid-level operatives.
