Promoting Peace and Justice for the People of Afghanistan Act of 2017
This bill directs the President to submit to Congress a strategy for U.S. engagement in Afghanistan which shall include information on: (1) a negotiated political resolution to the conflict in which the Taliban renounces violence, (2) U.S. troop withdrawal, and (3) diplomatic efforts to promote Afghanistan's long-term stabilization and end its use as a safe haven for proxy forces.
The bill provides funds for: (1) civilian security activities, and (2) governmental and nongovernmental activities that promote peace and justice.
