Supporting Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Act

(Sec. 3) This bill establishes an Advisory Council to Support Grandparents Raising Grandchildren.

The council must report on the information and resources.

The task force shall identify, coordinate, and publicly disseminate information and resources to help older relative caregivers meet the needs of the children in their care and maintain their own health and emotional well-being.

An older relative caregiver is a caregiver who:

  • is 55 or older;
  • lives with, is the informal provider of in-home and community care to, and is the primary caregiver for, a child;
  • is a relative by blood, marriage, or adoption;
  • is the primary caregiver because the child's parents are unable or unwilling to serve as the primary caregivers; and
  • has a legal relationship to the child or is raising the child informally.

The task force must report on its finding and recommendations.

The bill terminates the task force after five years.
