Effective Assistance of Counsel in the Digital Era Act of 2016
This bill prohibits any person acting under the authority of the United States from monitoring any electronic communication by a prisoner in a Bureau of Prisons correctional facility if such communication is subject to attorney-client privilege. This does not apply to any communications the Department of Justice has reason to believe pose a threat to national security.
