- Declaring that the full Social Security cost-of-living adjustment of 7.4 percent be paid in full on July 1, 1982, as scheduled; that the Senate renews its commitment to maintaining and assuring that the Social Security system shall be preserved and strengthened so that benefits will be paid in a timely manner; and that any corrective action taken shall not include any more than is absolutely necessary to preserve the financial integrity of the Social Security system.
