An amendment to 1) require that approved retail food stores display a sign telling how one may report abuses they observe in the food stamp program, 2) require food stamp applications to state in bold type that information supplied will be verified and if it is incorrect the loss of food stamps or criminal prosecution may result, 3) provide information on applications to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to investigate violations under the Food Stamp Act, and 4) set penalties for food stamp violations involving stamps of 100 dollars or more (100,000 dollar fine or 5 years for first violation, minimum sentence of 6 months in addition to this for second offense). Violations involving less than 100 dollars are misdemeanors with 1,000 dollars fine/1 year sentence. Work programs may be used in lieu of prison.
