An amendment to raise the food stamp authorization caps from 10 billion dollars in FY '82, from 10.3 billion dollars to 11.17 billion dollars in FY '83, from 10.3 billion dollars to 11.115 billion dollars in FY '84, and from 10.5 billion dollars to 11.305 billion dollars in FY '85. The amendment delays the adjustment of the Thrifty Food Plan an additional six months. It permits certain employees of the Office of Inspector General who conduct investigations of possible criminal violation of the food stamp program to 1) arrest without warrant if the violations occur in the presence of the employees, 2) incident to making such an arrest search the premises and seize evidence with or without warrant and 3) carry a firearm.
