An amendment to state that it is the sense of Congress that UNESCO should cease efforts to attempt to regulate news content and to formulate rules and regulations for the operation of the world press. The amendment also requires the President to report to Congress on the extent to which U.S. financial contributions to UNESCO and the programs of UNESCO serve the national interests of the U.S. The report is also to report on the programs of UNESCO especially in the communications sector, and the quality of participation of the U.S. in UNESCO, and the quality of U.S. staff recruited for UNESCO.
