Amendment97th Congress
An amendment to require the corporation to report on providing legal assistance to persons in areas that are remote and where harsh climate and inadequate transportation systems are significant impediments to receiving such service. The amendment also requires that each state is to provide funds to a private bar programs with programs to provide legal services to the poor. A state can be exempted from this requirement if it can show that the bar association is unable or refuses to deliver such services.
