An amendment to provide that 200,000 dollars shall be available for the study of existing or new naval petroleum reserves to determine the adequacy of naval petroleum reserves for the long term national security. The study is to especially consider the Elk Hills petroleum reserve and the report is to be completed in 90 days from the date of enactment. The amendment reduces the funds for the naval petroleum reserves by 200,000 dollars to cover the cost of the study, setting the reserves figure at 225,703,000 dollars.
