An amendment to the response authorities provisions of the bill to add that the Administrator may enter into agreements with one or more persons for the purpose of providing for remedial action with respect to actual or threatened release of hazardous substances. Such agreements must be entered into within 120 days after the Administrator has notified those responsible for the hazardous substance actual or threatened release. Those who enter into the agreements are responsible for their share of them and those persons are not liable to other parties for the agreement. The amendment sets out other provisions for liability of costs. This amendment provides for voluntary agreements.
