Amendment98th Congress
An amendment to subject federal toxic waste sites to the same standards as private sites. The amendment requires all departments, agencies, and instrumentalities of the U.S. government to inform EPA of each facility at which hazardous substances are treated, stored, or disposed of. The EPA is to establish a special Federal Agency Hazardous Waste Compliance Docket. The agencies are required to formalize plans for dealing with the hazardous wastes. The amendment also provides provisions to enforce compliance. The authority for enforcing these provisions may not be transferred from the EPA.
