Amendment98th Congress
An amendment to add to the findings about the reestablishment of democracy in Argentina that while the U.S. should play a constructive role in insuring the consolidation of that democracy by taking into account its serious economic problems in the event Argentina seeks to renegotiate its foreign debt, that 'it not be the policy of the U.S. to protect the profits of private financial institutions with loans outstanding to Argentina or other Latin American countries'. It also adds that the President should encourage the restructuring of the Argentine debt and that of other democracies in Latin America to allow longer periods of amortization and lower rates of interest.
