Amendment98th Congress
A substitute to the Murphy amendments to strike the bill's provisions relating to handicapped infants, substituting provisions requiring HHS to issue quidelines for hospitals that want to establish ethical advisory committees to offer advice on the treatment of severely handicapped infants and to help establish hospital treatment policies. It also establishes a national commission to study the issue of treatment of handicapped infants and requires HHS to compile a directory of physicians with expertise in the care and treatment of handicapped infants.
