Amendment98th Congress
An amendment in the nature of a substitute, consisting of the text of H.R. 2174 as passed by the House, with addition of language providing a fine of not more than $10,000 and/or 3 years imprisonment for persons who intentionally cause serious injury by tampering with a consumer product, its container, or label. It also provides a fine of up to $25,000 and/or five years imprisonment for knowingly communicating false information that a consumer product has been tainted. Both provisions deal with interstate commerce.
