An amendment to the Wright substitute amendment to make the effective date of the ban on U.S. assisted military or paramilitary activity in Nicaragua to be 30 days after the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, the Committee on Foreign Affairs, and the Committee on the Armed Services of the House hold hearings on the feasibility of an overt interdiction assistance program. The hearings are to consider the costs and number and type of U.S. personnel and equipment required to implement a program to effectively interdict arms and supplies shipped from or through Nicaragua to support military or paramilitary operations against any nation in Central America.
