An amendment to permit Secretaries of military departments to make military installations available for sheltering persons without adequate shelter. Such arrangements are to be made in conjunction with state and local governments or charitable institutions. Minor repairs may be made to facilitate this. Such shelter may not be provided if it interferes with military preparedness or ongoing military functions. The amendment provides $1 million each for the Navy and Air Force and $8 million for the Army Reserve for this purpose.
