An amendment providing for evaluating the suitability of establishing future regional hazardous waste storage and disposal centers on property owned by the Federal government. The amendment requires the Administrator to select three sites in areas needed to accommodate near term levels of hazardous waste in the area and which has surface transportation access. The amendment sets criteria for the site (e.g., 15,000 acres, 1 mile from residences, 2 miles from highways). The sites are to be studied for suitability with the study submitted to the Administrator in one year.
