Amendment99th Congress
A perfecting amendment striking language in the bill dealing with JCS staff size and substituting that the Secretary of Defense shall prescribe the maximum number of officers that may service on the Joint Staff. The number is to be determined by the duties and responsibilities of the Chairman and the staff is not to exceed that number. Should the staff size exceed 400 there is to be direct offsetting reductions in the service staffs.
