An amendment striking language in the bill that requires the Urban Mass Transportation Administration to conduct a study of potential methane gas risks for the proposed rail alignment of the Southern California Rapid Transit District and adds language that prohibits funding of that project until the District establishes an independent committee of experts to study the entire Metro Rail route system for potential hazards associated with methane gas. The results of the study must be incorporated into the District's plans for construction of the rail system.
