An amendment to provide compensation to any workers who are certified to have lost their jobs as a result of the encactment of the provisions of the bill. Specifically, the amendment would require the Agriculture Department, in consultation with the Labor Department, to provide financial assistance to such workers for a period of up to six years. The proposed assistance would include, but not be limited to, continued health and welfare benefits, unemployment compensation or severance pay, layoff and vacation benefits, and retraining and relocation benefits.
