An amendment to prohibit any person or organization from receiving contracts or grants authorized under the bill unless it can certify it will provide a workplace that is drug free by publishing a statement of policy prohibiting the unlawful manufacture, distribution, or possession of a controlled substance while in the workplace. The amendment requires each employee to certify that they have read and will abide by the statement of policy. Employees would be required to notify the employer of any conviction for a drug offense no later than the next working day. Employers would be required to notify the granting or contracting agency within 72 hours of receiving such notice.
