Amendment100th Congress
An amendment comprised of several amendments en bloc to accomplish the following: To reauthorize $10 million for agricultural assistance to Poland, and $1 million for projects to promote democratic values in Poland while alsoattempting to improve the quality of life there through various funding mechanisms; to require the State Department to assess the risk of the proliferation of chemical and biological weapons, and to report thereon; to express the sense of the Congress that the U.N. has failed to address the human rights abuses in Cuba in a responsible manner, and to condemn countries that have voted against consideration of Cuban abuse of human rights in the U.N.; to require the State Department to include in its annual human rights report an assessment of the observance of internationally recognized child labor rights by countries receiving U.S. aid; to direct the Comptroller General to report on the process of interagency review of certain agreements with controlled countries; to express the sense of the Congress that no uranium compounds in any form which are derived from South African ore shall be imported into the U.S.; to require the President to report to Congress on sources and uses of Soviet hard currency; to express the sense of the Congress against the Soviet policy on Jewish emigration; to commend the President for pressing the Soviet Union to adhere to its commitments to respect internationally recognized human rights; to direct the President to insure that the Congress is provided with reports containing full and compatible information on the status of all loans, credits, loan guarantees, and all other forms of repayable financial assistance provided.
