An amendment to express the sense of the Congress that the President should take all appropriate steps to encourage India to follow a genuinely independent nonaligned foreign policy, and to support the Indians in their encouragement of Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan as well as in certain other initiatives designed to increase support for closer United States-Indian relations.
