An amendment to exempt from the bill's prohibitions on polygraph tests employers in the security services industry in certain cases by permitting the use of polygraph tests for security guards who deal with the shipment or storage of radioactive or toxic waste, currency, negotiable securities, precious commodities or instruments, and proprietary information. The amendment would also permit polygraph testing for security guards whose jobs have a significant impact on the health or safety of state or local governments, or national security, as defined by the Labor Department.
