An amendment to cut budget authority in the committee bill by $17.2 billion, and reduce outlays by $12.6 billion which is intended to bring the bill within the limits set by the House passed budget resolution. Specifically, the amendment provides $3.6 billion for STAR WARS; eliminates funding for the BIGEYE bomb; cuts the number of MX missiles for testing purposes from 21 to 12, and cuts the bill's authorization for the missiles by 31 percent; authorizes $2 billion for Midgetman; cuts the committee authorization for research on an Anti-Tactical Ballistic Missile system by 29 percent; and deletes all funding for Harrier attack aircraft; advanced cruise missiles; ground launched cruise missiles; Aquila remotely piloted vehicles; advanced Light-Weight Torpedoes; and vertical-launched anti-submarine rockets.
