- Purpose
- An amendment in the nature of a substitute which would prohibit the deportation of spouses and children of permanent residents. The amendment specifies that spouses and children of permanent residents would not be subject to the immigration limits of individual countries for five years. The amendment sets overall immigration limits at 115,000, with an additional 10,000 visas in each of the next five years extended to unmarried adult children of permanent residents. All other provisions of the bill would be eliminated.
