- Purpose
- An amendment to require federal law enforcement officials to make their best efforts to assure that victims of crime are accorded certain rights and information including the rights to be treated fairly and with respect; to be reasonably protected against the accused; to be notified of court proceedings; to be present at court proceedings (unless the victim's testimony would be affected); to confer with prosecutors; and to obtain information about the conviction, incarceration, and release of the attacker.
