- Amendment sought to place by FY 1993 a permanent ceiling of 30,000 on the number of U.S. troops to be stationed in the Republic of Korea with not more than 20,000 of those troops coming from the Army.
- Purpose
- An amendment to place a permanent ceiling of 30,000 on U.S. troops in Korea to be achieved over the next three years by FY 1993. This amendment would require the withdrawal of an additional 6,000 Army troops over the same 3-year period. Under the amendment, the troop ceiling could be waived in the event of an armed attack by North Korea or a presidentially-declared emergency.
