Amendment en bloc: 1) authorized $978 million in additional funds for Persian Gulf-related operations including: $185 million for pay and other personnel benefits for military personnel stationed in the Persian Gulf; $187 million for anti-chemical and biological weapons equipment and training; $576 million for strategic mobility and minehunters broken down as follows: $250 million for strategic sealift vessels, $290 million for three minehunter ships, and $36 million for modifications to C-141 aircraft; 2) added language requiring congressional authorization for other support for Persian Gulf operations; and 3) named the next guided missile destroyer after the late Representative Samuel Stratton of New York.
