- Amendment sought to require the Defense Department to plan and carry out a competitive prototype and concept evaluation program to evaluate the combat utility of a mission-dedicated force of small agile fixed-wing aircraft that were significantly less expensive than existing fixed- or rotary-wing alternatives.
- Purpose
- An amendment to prohibit the appropriation of procurement funds for close air support aircraft for the Armed Forces unless the Defense Department has completed a test that evaluates all feasible alternatives for future air-land support and has completed a test that evaluates the upgrade programs for the F-16, A-10, and AV-8B.
