Strike the text of the amendment as printed in the Report and insert: \ (c) SPECIFIC WILDERNESS ACCESS.--Congress reaffirms that nothing in the Wilderness Act is to be construed as prohibiting use of a wheelchair in a wilderness area by an individual whose disability requires use of a wheelchair, but no agency is required to provide any form of special treatment or accomodation, or to constuct any facilities or modify any conditions of lands within a wilderness area in order to facilitate such use.

- Purpose
- An amendment to provide that no individual may be discriminated against with respect to entrance to wilderness areas because of a disability. It stipulates that wheelchairs may be used in wilderness areas by any individual requiring the use of a wheelchair. As modified, the amendment provides for a reaffirmation by Congress that nothing in the Wilderness Act is to be construed as prohibiting use of a wheelchair in a wilderness area by an individual whose disability requires use of a wheelchair, but no agency is required to provide any form of special treatment or accomodation, or to construct any facilities or modify any conditions of lands within a wilderness area in order to facilitate such use.
