- Purpose
- An amendment to authorize the Interior Department to conduct investigations of water pollution caused by mining and other development in the upper Arkansas River Basin (in Colorado), to develop corrective action plans, and to implement corrective action demonstration projects. The amendment expands on the bill's provisions authorizing construction of a water treatment plant at the Leadville Mine Drainage Tunnel in order to begin addressing pollution problems at other sites in the same vicinity. The amendment increases the authorization for this portion of the bill from $15 million to $20 million.
