Amendment provided compromise language on clean alternative fuel vehicles. It deleted language mandating production of such vehicles and replaced it with a demonstration program in California. It established a light vehicle fleet program. It required urban fleet and urban bus programs which are fueled in one of the 27 most serious ozone nonattainment areas to convert to such clean fuel vehicles by model year 2000.
