Amendments also prohibited the fraudulent use of "Made in America" labels and placed restrictions on certain contract awards.
- Purpose
- An amendment to impose "Buy-American" provisions on the bill which will allow Metro to award a contract to a higher-bidding U.S. firm instead of a foreign firm if the Commerce Department and U.S. Trade Representative determine it would be in the public interest, and if the difference between contracts does not exceed 25% for steel and manufactured products and 10% for rail cars; with at least 51% of the final product domestically produced, and the final product being completely assembled in the United States. The amendment also imposes a restriction on the awarding of contracts to foreign governments if certain conditions exist.
