- Amendment sought to require staff coordinators serving State advisory rural economic development review panels to be federal Department of Agriculture employees rather than appointees of State Governors, and would have deleted the $5 million provided for such appointees.
- Purpose
- An amendment to remove from the governors of states the power to appoint state officers or employees as rural development coordinators. These coordinators would be required to be USDA officers or employees appointed by the Agriculture Secretary.
