Amendments en bloc: (1) authorized development assistance for Lebanon of not less than $7,500,000 for fiscal years 1990 and 1991; (2) expressed as the sense of Congress that the U.N. should undertake a new initiative promoting the resettlement of New Famagusta, Cyprus, by its former inhabitants; (3) expressed the concern of Congress regarding human rights violations by the government of Yugoslavia; (4) condemned the use of excessive and lethal force by Soviet troops in their suppression of peaceful demonstrations in the Georgian Republic of Tbilisi; and (5) authorized the importation of certain defense articles from Poland and Hungary.
