Purpose
An amendment to require the Secretary to assess the differences between the previous management and planning practices of the Tongass National Forest and those of other national forests and to make conforming changes in planning and management priorities so as to assure that the emphasis in the Tongass National Forest is given to the long-term best interests of the fishing, recreation, and tourism industries and the subsistence communities in southeast Alaska.The amendment also directs the Secretary to develop a management pl an to provide for sustained production of old-growth forest resources within the Tongass National Forest.
