An amendment to address the economic conversion question by striking from the provisions of the Frost amendment the following: section 4322 relating to defense contractor hiring preference for displaced defense workers; section 4404 relating to defense contractor requirement to list suitable employment openings with local employment service office; section 4405 relating to notice required upon cancellation of defense contracts; section 4607 relating to special early retirement for displaced defense workers; and adding in lieu new sections which relate to defense contractor efforts to assist displaced defense workers and advance notice of defense contract cancellations; a study to determine the dislocation effects of current and future reductions in spending for the national defense.

- Amendment to the Frost amendment (A012) dealing with economic conversion sought to delete: (1) language relating to defense contractor hiring preferences for displaced defense workers; (2) language relating to a defense contractor requirement to list suitable employment openings with local employment service offices; (3) language relating to notice required upon cancellation of defense contracts; (4) language relating to special early retirement for displaced defense workers; and add in lieu: (1) new sections which relate to defense contractor efforts to assist displaced defense workers and advance notice of defense contract cancellations; and (2) require a study to determine the dislocation effects of current and future reductions in spending for the national defense.
