An amendment to establish "drug-free zones" around truck stops and highway rest areas by imposing a mandatory sentences for drug-related crimes within 1,000 feet of truck stops and highway rest areas. The amendment would establish a minimum sentence of one year for a first offense, and three years for a second or subsequent offense. The amendment would prohibit granting probation or issuing suspended sentences for second or subsequent convictions.
