- Purpose
- Amendment originally sought to add language in which the Congress deplores the excessive use of force and violence by Indian Government security forces against civilians in the States of Jammu and Kashmir. \ As amended by the Solarz amendment (A043), the above was replaced with language which urges the Indian Government to resolve their differences with the people of Kashmir peacefully and through appropriate political mechanisms.
