- Amendment increases funding for the VA Medical and Prosthetic Research Account by $25 million for Gulf War illness research; and reduces funding for the Corporation for National and Community Service by $200 million.
- Purpose
- An amendment to delete 50% of the funds appropriated in the bill for the AmeriCorps program ($200 million) and use the savings to increase funding for VA medical and prosthetic research by $25 million including a $5 million increase for research on Gulf War illnesses). The remaining savings will be applied to deficit reduction.
