Amendment requires the President to seek increases in defense burden sharing from nations that have cooperative military relations with the United States.
Purpose
An amendment to require the President to seek increased cash contributions from U.S. allies to fund the non-salaried costs of U.S. troops permanently stationed in their countries. The amendment would provide the President with the authority to: reduce the number of U.S. troops stationed in a country; impose on a nation such taxes and fees similar to those imposed on U.S. forces stationed in that nation; suspend, modify or terminate any bilateral security agrrement with that nation; and reduce bilateral assistance to that nation.,
