- Amendment requires the President to seek increases in defense burden sharing from nations that have cooperative military relations with the United States.
- Purpose
- An amendment to require the President to seek increased cash contributions from U.S. allies to fund the non-salaried costs of U.S. troops permanently stationed in their countries. The amendment would provide the President with the authority to: reduce the number of U.S. troops stationed in a country; impose on a nation such taxes and fees similar to those imposed on U.S. forces stationed in that nation; suspend, modify or terminate any bilateral security agrrement with that nation; and reduce bilateral assistance to that nation.,
