- Purpose
- An amendment, printed as amendment No. 1 in House Report 104-474, to strike the provisions in the bill which would permit individual states to determine whether to use Medicaid funds to pay for abortions in cases of rape or incest. The effect of the amendment would be to maintain current law, which requires states to make Medicaid funds available for abortions in cases of rape, incest, or to save the life of the patient.
