- Amendment strikes provisions that impose a statutory limit on the number of refugees that may be admitted into the United States each year.
- Purpose
- An amendment, printed as amendment No. 17 in House Rept. 104-483, to delete the provisions of the bill that imposes a statutory limit on the number of refugees to be admitted into the U.S. for each Fiscal Year. The bill would mandate a cap of 75,000 refugees to be permitted into the country in FY 1997, and a limit of 50,000 refugees for each subsequent Fiscal Year.
