- Amendment encourages States to protect against fraud and abuse by using new and recent technologies to maximize the security of electronics benefits transfer (EBT) systems; and it requires States to incorporate within their EBT systems, within two years, measures that enable such systems to differentiate between allowable and non-allowable food items.
- Purpose
- An amendment to grant the States greater flexibility in implementing state-wide programs of Electronic Benefit Transfer for food stamps. The amendment would encourage states to implement new technology measures to maximize EBT systems, and require states to incorporate measures within their EBT systems that would distinguish between food items that are allowable and those that are not.
